The first day was a bit hectic!
One of the kids was a bit sick. We still needed to get gardening gloves, a watering can and hopefully some child sized tools so they could get stuck in.
We had a stack of tools that we had ordered on-line that we needed to lug down to our 'Lottie'.
Then we couldn't find our camera anywhere. After tearing the house up and deciding it was a rubbish camera we decided to go buy a new one but as we live fairly rurally that meant a 20 minute drive to the nearest camera selling shop. Then it was lunch time.
Eventually we got to the Lottie.
We donned our new lovely boiler suits and gloves and carried our shiny new tools down to our allotment.
We found potatoes! and cabbages and lots and lots of weeds and wild flowers. And possibly Borage.
The kids were set to digging up the potatoes and the adults started hacking the weeds. We decided being able to get on to our plot and up to the shed was a good place to start.
Pulling up stinging nettles revealed some glass frames! awesome, we knew from our book reading that they'd be handy for making a cold frame.
underneath all the growth, which at least proved the soil was fertile, we could see beds and paths.
The potential was there!
